Statement by The Mexican Museum

Statement by The Mexican Museum

"The assessment of the Pre-Hispanic collection was commissioned by The Mexican Museum's Board of Trustees. Such an assessment is not a requirement to become a Smithsonian Affiliate. The assessment was recommended by former Minister of Culture for México, Sari Bermudez, and her curatorial team, which has been retained by the Board as the museum embarks on it's new phase of becoming a national and international cultural and educational institution. The Board has made it the mission of the museum to raise the bar on the quality of artifacts that can be collected and displayed since the museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2012."
