Crafting Ritual: Selections from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection of Mexican Folk Art
October 15, 2003 - December 20, 2003

In 1985, The Mexican Museum received a portion of Nelson A. Rockefeller’s Mexican popular art collection from his daughter, Ann Rockefeller Roberts. The prestigious collection of over 500 objects collected from 1933–78 contains exemplary examples of ritual objects, many of which are no longer made.

This exhibition highlighted some of these beautiful expressions of faith and artistry in clay, wood, paper and tin. Focusing on religious artifacts, indigenous traditional objects and ceremonial masks, the exhibition included items from Día de los Muertos and Christmas celebrations.
