This exhibition was highlighted by two primary events that brought the community together. The first, "Tastes of Mexico," paired the visual arts with a broad spectrum of Mexican musical classics to celebrate both Cinco de Mayo and international mother's day at the Mexican Consulate of San Francisco. The first gathering fostered a wonderful evening of art, dialogue, and community, beautifully complementing the breathtaking visual works on display drawn from The Mexican Museum's extensive and award-winning collection of artwork from artists of many backgrounds, periods, and styles.
Programming continued with a well-attended and highly praised Cultural Reception on Thursday, June 11, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The Mexican Museum community gathered to honor the exhibition's success, enjoying catered food alongside formal speeches by the Consul General and talks and even poetry recital by the museum community. This reception serves as a fitting tribute to the profound legacy of Mexican women in the arts as well as buttresses The Mexican Museum's ongoing efforts to celebrate Mexican and Mexican American art and artists in the Bay Area and beyond.
